First long cook on the Kamander
« Reply #-1 on: September 04, 2018, 04:49:49 PM »
Gave the smoker a good run on Labor Day with a 10 lb pork butt.  Took about 8 hours and it was a pleasure.  Not much to do once the temp was dialed in, during a very rainy day in South Florida.  I could not believe all the unused charcoal at the end as it really burns efficiently.

Yeah, it looks okay, I guess...

Who am I kidding? It looks awesome!  Now I want a pulled pork sammie.

Looks good, checked out the Kamander, seems like a great cooker for the $$$$.
How was the smoke flavor?  With my keg, sometimes seems like I could use more smoke flavor.
What temp were you able to hold?

Mighty fine, sir.

I'll be cookin' an 8 pound butt tomorrow in the Akorn.  It's rubbed, in the fridge, and ready to go on in the morning.  I'm planning for a 10 hour cook.

I hope I can get results like this.

I paid $199.00 for mine so a real bargain.  I was able to maintain an average pit temp of about 230F with little variation.  As it was my first long cook, I used one chunk each of hickory and apple wood.  Probably next time I will add another chunk or two for a little more smoke but again, this is a work in progress.  The butt was tender and juicy so I am happy.

Looks good

But the real question is  how do you like it so far?  Is it up to standards with other grills?  Is it worth the money they ask for it?
