First Steaks on the Napoleon
« Reply #-1 on: July 25, 2021, 06:34:27 AM »
So I got to try out the "Sizzle Zone" on the Napoleon. My steak was perfect! Charred hard on the outside and rare in the middle. And Margo had hers what I like to call "twice killed"! Brown through and through! We both had blue cheese and onions on the top.
We are both reducing carbs, so we had cucumbers on the side. I had a couple of slices of grilled tomatoes and she had a salad.
I love this grill!

Have a similar unit. Still not good at using the Sizzle Zone.

Are you using the higher position for the grate?

This is my favorite thing about this grill. Before this I had no way to get that kind of heat for the sear that I wanted.

I'll look into that, thanks

It makes it easier to cook 2 different kinds of steaks. She was very happy with hers!

Perfect steak.  Looks like the grill has a smoker box.  Do you add some wood chips when doing steaks?  Curious if you can do a low heat smoke to start and then move to the sizzle zone for a reverse sear?

Thanks bamabob. It was as good as any steak that I have ever had anywhere!

This grill does not have a smoker box. However you can just throw some chips on the GrillGrates. I am thinking about getting the smoker box that sits just under the grates.

On my previous grill I cooked my steak on the indirect side and then raised the heat and finished on the flat side of the grates. I will try to use that technique on my next cook, with the exception of finishing on the Sizzle Zone.
