OK, that's what I figured. The butt is much more shoulder than is the picnic, so precision in terminology is important.

John - it is a regional thing. Even in BBQ - there will ALWAYS be terms that are regionalized. Tri TIp is another example. Here in the S.E. - you are as likely to get the top slice off of the sirloin sold to you as a "Tri-Tip". Not the same as a whole muscle Tri-Tip that you would be familiar with.
