Salad with steak slices
« Reply #-1 on: February 26, 2013, 01:37:19 PM »
I couldn't await to test the new mini egg with a steak, so I got a 13,5 oz striploin today. The mini egg was after about 10 minutes at a temperature of about 600°F so I put the steak on the grill and seared it from each side. After pulling I let it sit for about 10 minutes, then cut it into slices as a topping for a salad withn sauteed mushrooms.

That mini egg is real fun! And it's a real monster and a steak machine!

That looks perfect. What do you use to take the temps with?

How was the taste WC? Never ate anything from an egg. Heard they can get even hotter the 600

I used the temperature gauge in the lid, although it doesn't work exactly. It shows a lower temperature than the egg actually has (as I found out with my digital Maverick ET73 on sunday).

@Pappy: It's very easy to get a ceramic cooker to a temperature of 600°F and way more. The taste is perfect: no char on the meat, that comes out very moist. I love those ceramic cookers. I'm already thinking about selling my pelletsmoker to get a Primo Oval XL instead.
