Black Iron Potatoes
« Reply #-1 on: January 02, 2012, 03:45:00 PM »
Mr ACW3 posted a recipe for Hassselback potatoes and since it is kinda close to the one I use which is called Black Iron Potatoes, I will post it for the folks that want to try this type of potatoes. This is on my blog.

I oiled up a black iron skillet with some peanut oil and placed my whole potatoes into it. I then sliced the potatoes in place and carefully kept them looking whole. Made up a mixture of some butter, garlic, onion, and poured it over my potatoes.

My black iron potatoes ready to go on the cooker.

The chicken and potatoes a little later into the cook.

Next step for the potatoes was to add about a half pound of crumpled bacon and some shredded sharp cheddar over the top.

Looking good!

Ready to serve. The recipe is very simple and very good.

I'll have to give your recipe a try.  Anything with bacon can't be all bad.

Pam,

Just jump into that buggy and head West and both me and Jan and Barney would be more than happy to share some vittles with you.

Mr squirtthecat,

Fill that Griswold up with this treat and put it on that "Quau" smoker at whatever temp you are running and cook it until it is done. It will take the same time as it would if you placed it into your kitchen oven. Time will depend on the size of the pots and the actual temp of the smoker or grill. I get them done at about 1-3/4 to 2 hours cooking with chicken at 350 degrees or maybe 3-1/2 to 4 hours running with pork or beef at say 250 degrees. You'll love em!

Dave..I can do that..I know your on the other side of Indianapolis and I'm 3 hours from there. Maybe we could have a midwest gathering..if IR2dum gets close, we should consider this. Who else is close to us? Wouldn't that be fun?  Pammie ★*˚°。°
