Fried Rice re-visited
« Reply #-1 on: June 05, 2013, 04:22:32 PM »
Haven't been to active for a couple of weeks. Been busy at work. I know this is not BBQ but something to dive back in with. ;)
Got some shrimp, sausage, and chicken. Fresh garlic, green onion, left over white rice, eggs, low sodium soy sauce and sesame oil. Put it all together and I got this.
I cooked the chicken separate then took it out and put the sausage in. I then put all the animal pieces in and followed it with the rice and the liquid seasonings ;D. Followed by the green onion last. Here's a couple of pics.

Hey Mike!
That looks fantastic!

Ben thinking about changing the name of this site - so that it is not so "BBQ-centric". We all cook outdoors - and that is the "glue" tha holds everything we do here together...Any thought on the potential name change?

I personally like the forum name. It's catchy. Maybe adding a section named Non BBQ Recipes would be a nice addition. I didn't know quite where to post this. So I placed it here in the breakfast/brunch. Feel free to move it.

I agree w/ Mike. The current name sounds good, is established and is the basis of what we talk about. I think most members are invited, so we don't need to troll for members. I like the idea of having places n the forum for other discussions, and that seems to be working pretty well. So, that's my vote...  ;)

Cheers,
David

There are a lot of "kitchen" oriented sites....And we are not trying to exclude any indoor cooked items - but the push is outdoor cooking. All name suggestions will be welcome!

Though that name is also good, my vote ; if there was a vote, would be to keep the original name. :)

See Larry Gaian's recent review of a book by Ardie Davis & Paul Kirk here.  The salient point for this discussion is,

"One of the first topics Ardie and Paul tackle is “What is Barbecue? Whether you’re cooking “low and slow”
or grilling “hot and fast” the authors don’t take a side on what to call it.

They have accepted that anything cooked outdoors, whether on a grill or a smoker, is barbecue.  They
even go so far as to not have a problem with calling the backyard cookout event a “barbecue.”  I
suppose if these two experts don’t have a problem with any of this, no one should."

Bottom line: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion
