Corn Flake Crusted Pork Steaks
« Reply #-1 on: January 24, 2012, 08:32:31 PM »
My wife cooked these up his evening and boy were they good!

She whirred up some corn flakes in the food processor and threw them into a bag with a little salt, pepper & paprika. Tossed in the pork steaks, one at a time, and shook to coat it.

She put them on a cookie sheet then into the MAK at 375° for 45 minutes using Hickory pellets.

They were juicy, crispy on the outside and had a great flavor from the Hickory smoke.

Simple and really delicious. She knocked this out of the park!

Thanks.

Outstanding!

Did she dredge 'em thru the corn flakes after an egg wash?

Nope, no egg wash. She just threw them in the bag with the seasoned corn flake crumbs and shook the bag to coat 'em.

Looks great!

Tee, dad always told me if your frying use egg wash if your grilling use oil.   So far it's been good advice

Hmmmm...good to know Tommy...what was the reason? I have done it both ways but - I may be overlooking something that could be useful.

Not sure, but if Dad said do it this way I did it his way .      I do know that frying in oil the egg wash does seem to do better then using oil then fry.    Dad was taught to cook by his grandmother and she was a stick Sicilian so I guess she said do it he did it.  ;)

TentHunteR, That looks as good as if they were fried.  I've got to do me some pork steaks soon.  Dee

Cliff,
That looks great.  I am getting hungry.  I think I better go thaw out a bag of pulled pork and do something with it for dinner.
