Charcoal Lump is what is recommended in Ceramic Kamando Cookers but the Char-Griller Kamando style cooker is manufactured with an inner and outer layer of steel with installation in between.  LostArrow posted in another topic "I used lump for my first few months, but with the large ash catcher you can use briquettes.
I now use briquettes , can't tell the difference just so I can keep only one kind of charcoal."
