I think the best pizzas are those made at home

Is the best pizza I have ever eaten. 4 continents and countless countries. THE BEST.  (IMHO - of course  ;) ;D )

Ironic that in the article, the 'top 2' places have New York City references.

Bronx Pizza...
Brooklyn in the desert...

I've been to all on that list and didn't think any of them were "pizza towns" at all.  When you leave New York City and Chicago off the list it is automatically crippled.  As a road warrior for 20 years I never visited New York City without having a go at one of their super thin crust, cheeze and olive oil delights.  Same for some deep-dish in Chicago where if you don't wait at least 45 minutes for it, it isn't a good one.

Can you get good pizza in other cities?  Sure!  But the two towns that are absolutely famous for pizza, New York and Chicago, have to be on every list  ;D

Having traveled almost as much as Hub (and others) I've found individual places (usually small dives) that make great pizzas. My absolute favorite is in San Jose Costa Rica. Just a few tables - huge (ugly) wood fired oven on the patio and when they run out of dough they are closed. Never, ever had a better pizza.

But, Hub is right - without New York and Chicago (that's my order) at the top of the list, it just doesn't make sense. These are our pizza cities.

I'm more of a pizza style guy than a pizza city one.  I love NY style (fold and flop) and Chicago deep dish, but I have had better versions of both of them outside of their namesake cities.
