New Year's Eve in North Idaho
« Reply #-1 on: August 09, 2013, 02:05:44 AM »
I know this is the wrong time of year, but because it is so blazingly hot, I was perusing my Picasa albums for some cooler times and came upon our New Year's Eve annual event.  We have two of our couple friends over for the festivities for good food, plenty of adult beverage, and of course, a guest room for the night.  The next morning is a relaxing breakfast in the hot tub before everyone goes on their merry way.

Click to zoom, click again to dismiss

We all love cheese and wine, and start nearly every event with a cheese platter of domestic and international cheeses.  One of my all time favorites is Camembert, but obtaining the authentic version is nearly impossible in Idaho.

There's plenty of food to keep everyone fully stuffed, just like a sausage

Sorry about the poor quality, but I tend to have a tremor at times, so low light photography is a challenge.  Here we are going out to the fire ring to await the midnight hour

Fires are simply mesmerizing

The next morning it is out to the back deck with hash browns, bacon, and eggs

Is there anything better than a hot tub in the middle of winter?

... Yes!... when you add Champagne

I sure am, BigDon; the August heat hit us in Idaho beginning in June and has not hardly let up.  I'm sooooo looking forward to the snow.

SHhhhhh ... you don't want to use that four letter word (snow) too loosely.  :o :-\

It has been over 100 for a while here, and I am not upset by that at all.  :)  I have had enough of that 4 letter word (the white stuff) for a lot of lifetimes.

I know what you mean, but I guess I'm a bit deviant - I moved to Idaho from San Diego just to get back into the four seasons, and the older I become, the more I like winter

Hi Art, I'm in north Idaho, the panhandle, not far from Spokane, Washington where we have a landscape much like that in Lake Tahoe (Californiz/Nevada).  Lots of lakes at about 2000 ft, and even lots of high mountain alpine lakes where I like to go fishing with my son - I have a few good fishing trip pics I'd like to post.

Ya but you all had suits on <LOL>

so true!  but as soon as the guests leave and it's just me and my sweetie...
