I was working yesterday at a bank owned repo house and when I walked into the kitchen I found this creepy collection of bottles on the counter...



Upon a closer look I found that this one was still alive...



At first I thought it was the biggest Black Widow I have ever seen but it did not have an hourglass on the belly and it was really big! And no I did not take it home with me :o

I wouldn't go back in that house...maybe the tenants are still there..... ???

Reminds me of a friend I had when I was a teen.  I'd go over to his house and he had two Styrofoam cups on his window sill - when I looked in I found fly heads in one, and their bodies in another.  I asked him the story, and he said that he liked to cut off fly heads with a razor blade and then collect the heads and bodies separately.

You know what is truly frightening?  Today he is a psychiatrist practicing in Los Angeles.

It is called a Black House Spider.

And this person is crazy! They actually picked one up! Their bite is venomous but not deadly. No thanks :o

I don't like spiders. Got bit by a brown recluse onced. Arm swelled up the size of my leg and took six months to heal.

I fully understand; my youngest son is the same way.  When asked why he fears spiders and not other insects, he replied that it is because spiders have 8 legs rather than 6.  Evidently the two extra legs makes all the difference  ;D
