New England Clam Chowder
« Reply #-1 on: September 07, 2013, 10:21:56 AM »
There are several versions of clam chowder but the classic "New England" or Maine chowder is dairy based...

Rhode Island chowder omits the dairy altogether while Manhattan chowder is tomato based. (It's actually illegal to serve Manhattan chowder in Massachusetts!)

Haven't had that in years. That looks mighty good and very tasty. Put it in a jar and send it here to Texas.

And you are near fresh clams too. I remember fried clams with tartar sauce with fried onion rings. Wow! What a great dinner with coleslaw on the side.

Nice.

Clam flats are all around Cape Cod so we can dig fresh chowder clams and steamers.

Beautifull dish. New England is the only true chowder, Manhattan is more of a soup to me!

I've got your recipe that you posted on the other forum.  I think it would be good for you to post it here for those unfortunate enough to not have had seen it.  Dee

Manhattan is less than an hour for me, but I never eat Manhattan chowder. Always New England! And if they don't have it in the city, I'll go with the Seafood or Lobster Bisque.   ;D
