First KCBS Pro division comp results
« Reply #-1 on: October 01, 2013, 02:11:20 PM »
We had a pretty good day @ the Piggin Around comp in Woodbury, TN over the weekend. This was our first KCBS pro division comp, and we were up against some fairly heavy hitters in our region. Not a huge comp (24 teams), but a good turnout for a first year Pro comp.

We won 5th place ribs and 2nd place pork. Our chicken & brisket were, well... not as good, but they both were not DAL, and we finished 18th overall. Consistency in all four categories is the key to scoring well, and we have had much better chicken and brisket. The pork call was an absolute surprise, but we knew our ribs were pretty good.

Here are pics of the awards we received.

5th place ribs -

2nd place pork -

More to come for our team, as we are doing another KCBS pro comp in the near future.

2 calls and not DAL in your "areas for improvement."  Can't ask for much better than that.  Congrats!

Way to go, sir...

That is a very good start to your pro career...

We had RecTecs at the Gathering again this year.  They are great pellet grills.  AND...Mike had his brand new Traeger Jr there doin' most of the cookin' - that thing got a real workout, but it kept up very nicely.
I  found out only today that Mike is a KCBS member...that explains a lot from the Gathering.  Dang...he never let on like he was certifiable or anything...just kept cookin' everything that folks handed him.  I could tell he had cooked outside before, so he didn't have me completely fooled.
