Birthday Ribs - My favorite way!
« Reply #-1 on: March 23, 2012, 10:13:10 AM »
It's Wednesday (the 21st - my B'Day). The wife's working until 8, the kids left to go to youth group. Nobody's home to tell me what to cook. It's just me, the cat, the dog... and a rack of Spareribs! ;)

Ribs are on catching some hickory smoke.

Hmmm... What flavor profile do I want? Oh yeah... "Spicy Sweet Onion & Peach Bourbon Ribs"

Time to foil with a couple gurgles (1/8 cup each) of Bourbon & cider vinegar...

Top with sweet onion, peach slices, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes & some brown sugar. Back on the pit to braise for an hour.

don't waste those foil juices... into a food processor with the peaches, onions & some homemade BBQ sauce.

Glaze & finish the ribs...

When the family gets home we eat, I take my first bite... Happy Birthday to me! :)

WOW! Happy birthday.  Loved how you added the goodies to the BBQ sauce.  Creative thinking ... bridging the gap between what is and what can be.  They look delicious.  Phil

I'm bad.  I would have eaten the whole rack then ordered the wife and kids a pizza  ::)

Believe me... I was tempted! ;), but I'd have been one miserable birthday boy! It was a 4.5 lb rack.

Cliff,
If you keep that up you will become the "New Sparky".  They looked really good.  I like the idea of the peaches, onions, and of course the bourbon.  A little bourbon for the sauce and a little bourbon for the cook!  What's not to like!
