First Pork Shoulder for pulled pork
« Reply #-1 on: November 27, 2013, 12:52:36 PM »
Found pork shoulder on sale at the store last night, so on a whim decided to do a long overnight smoke.  (Because our fridge isn't ALREADY full-to-bursting with Thanksgiving prep stuff...)   ::)    What a breeze!!  Definitely going to be doing this one again.  And again.

Rubbed the shoulder down with some mesquite rub, threw it on the MAK around 5:30pm at 210F, and set an alarm for the probe.  It finished up right at 7am, and I got to eat succulent pulled pork for breakfast!  (It's so great working at a place where no one even bats an eye when I come into work smelling of hardwood smoke and pork drippings!)

I did paint it with some apple cider a couple of times in the evening (it was too easy, I needed something to fidget with!)  I might experiment with foiling it with some cider for an hour or two next time and see what that does to the bark and flavor.

Thanks for looking, this is such a hoot to get to share pics with you all!  :)
