Ukrainian Pierogies
« Reply #-1 on: January 07, 2014, 11:07:51 PM »
Ya'll know it's way to chilly to go outside so ya have to cook inside. I am a BIG Ukrainian fan. Have always loved their food. I am very lucky to have a connection to home made. Ok let's go.

Let's get the onions going,

I know, not near enough garlic. Dad is a word worker, he made the cutting board. His bowels are amazing.

Onions and garlic are done, set to the side.

Into the hot tube, they float their done.

Save your bacon fat.

Add to a hot pan.

I like a little colour.

Onions and garlic back into the pan.

Money shot, sour cream on the side.

Thanks for viewing ;D

I am a pierogi fanatic (being from Pittsburgh, that is kind of an obligation).  What are you stuffing yours with?  I am normally a potato/onion only fan, but traditional Polish farmer's cheese and kraut are great too.  Heck, meat filled and even fruit filled will do just fine.

P.S. Yours look great.

Ukrainian's call the pirogues. Cornish and UP'ers call them pasties, Rumanians call the placintas, Orientals call them pot stickers and S. Americans call them empanadas.  They are all good.  Pics are of pasties from the UP.  Pam   ☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི

I love pierogies. They are probably my daughter's all time favorite food item.  We jokingly call her the "Peirogi Queen."

You all ever been to Sokolowski's University Inn?  They are my favorite in C-Town.
