BIG PHOTO ANNOUNCEMENT

(1/8) > >>

Admin2:
In response to the recent issues and difficulties with up-loading photos to LTBBQ via a hosting services ( Photobucket, Picasa, Tap a Talk, etc )  many of you have experienced - the staff of LTBBQ has sold organs and donated enough blood to upgrade our bandwidth and service capabilities ;D. ( We even hijacked a Girl Scout cookie truck - and sold them on the black market :D)

What this means is that now - you should be able to load your photos directly to LTBBQ without having to post them on a hosting site first. You can still do that if you wish. But most will not want to go thru extra steps.

NOTE:there is ONE caveat -when posting pictures in the Humor section - you MUST still use a hosting service. This is because of the terms of use agreement with our hosting service. They see us as a COOKING specific site, and the real possibility exists that in reviewing our bandwidth consumption - they would determine "other than cooking" photos as us using LTBBQ as a photo dump. That would be a breach of service - and can be cause for a fine, an up-charge in our cost of service - or even termination of service if it became a serious infraction.

So, - please have fun, and post pictures directly to the site now. As long as we do not exceed the 25% load on the servers - we can say for nowthat the photo posting is "un-limited". Should that change due to growth in membership and  number of photos in a single thread - we will modify that policy as needed.

How do we do this?

While I certainly appreciate it, the one big advantage to a host is not having to size the picture to meet the 512KB limit.  On the other hand, the big issue with hosted pics is that when you move them on the host site or something the link is broken.  Good things about both methods.

This was the best solution we could come up with...It is one that allows each member to post pictures - pretty much any way that they want, or can. Some will find it easier, and some will still prefer to use a 3rd party. I see both sides of it, and - this just gives everyone another option.

Smoke - this should allow you to take any photo from your desktop - you probably have a file that you put pics in there - and post it directly to the forum.
