What is Your Favourite Walleye Recipe
« Reply #-1 on: April 04, 2014, 10:50:00 AM »
I am preparing for my annual Walleye fishing trip. I go every spring and fall. I will try to post some pics later this weekend.

I would like to ask what are some of your favourite way to prepare walleye?  One I tried last year was Knorr dry vegetable soup mix, just crush it up a bit finer. Another one is a corn flakes crust then deep fired.

Cast iron fillets with butter, chopped garlic and onion seasoned with salt and pepper.  Served over wilted spinach.  I should mention... that is my go to recipe for almost all fish.  :D

My favorite was my neighbors! He caught lake Erie walleye all summer and for labor day had an all day fish fry of walleye and perch. He put a batch in a brown bag with shake & bake, got it coated and deep fried, best walleye I ever had, it just had a light dusting of the shake and bake and you added your own salt. I have used some Zatarains mix too the same way and it is a little spicier. Don

Zatarain's is my favorite, although my cardiologist wouldn't agree.  :P

Take your fillet and spread philadelphia cream cheese on one side. Roll it up with the cream cheese inside. Use tooth picks to stop them from unrolling. Dip them into your favourite batter mix and deep fry till crispy brown. Some of the best fish I ever had.

My favorite used to be—dipped in whipped egg, rolled in crushed corn flakes and fried in fairly deep bacon grease.

HOWEVER, your favorite just became my favorite and I've never tried it.

I am a Lake of the Woods guy - yup "official" walleye capital of the world. Whether true or not - we always have walleye in the fridge or freezer. Almost always made with a "shore lunch" coating - beer, water, buttermilk - whatever is handy. But, S_B's idea sounds great... I have some fillets in the freezer and might try them this weekend. Thanks, Billy!

Walleye I'd a fish I would like to catch.  Heard they are good.  Columbia River is subpost to hold some good size walleyes.

As much as I like fishing for walleye your 7 bucks a pound is way cheaper than going out and fishing for them. If you figure in the gas for your truck & boat. The bait. And every other little thing its way more than 7 bucks a pound so thats a smart way to fish if you ask me.  ;)
