HOT PEPPER INFORMATION
« Reply #-1 on: April 06, 2014, 05:49:16 PM »
I wasn't sure where to post this link.  Maybe it should be under Food Safety Issues.  I just read this article about the top ten hottest peppers and thought I would pass this along.  There are some crazy hot peppers out there.  BE CAREFUL!!!

I just can't picture myself eating something hotter than the ghost pepper. I have some ghost pepper
jelly and yeah it is hot, but not so hot that the heat is all you taste. I can't imagine the usefulness of the
"high heat" peppers other than to say that you tried the hottest pepper in the world. Maybe I am just getting
too old to mess with something that I know is going to cause me lots of pain!  ;)

One of the members here raises the Carolina Reaper. He brought some into the office one day - because we have a couple of knuckleheads that think they are tough when it comes to hot foods. They like making their poppers with habaneros......
John put on gloves and cut pieces that were truly not much bigger than the head of a straight pin. These 2 guys tried the pepper...Within a minute they were hollering and crying like babies! :D :D :D
it took a lot of milk and buttered bread to put out those flames ;) ;D

Sorry.  I just don't hate myself that much to try those kinds of peppers today.  In my younger days, maybe.

Moderation in all things.  Well, at least a moderate amount  ::)

I like the occasional bit of habanero in jerk seasoning or in cheese but anything hotter is just too much.  I don't understand the development of hotter and hotter peppers when all they produce is heat, not flavor.
