Middle Eastern take on Short Ribs
« Reply #-1 on: June 08, 2014, 10:45:52 AM »
2 libs of short ribs

Rubbed with harissa....

Braised in some olive oil, butter and garlic

All of the other players...

O.K....gotta warm it up a little...

And another common regional touch for flavor/aroma-

And..let's eat!

2-3 lbs short ribs
1/2 cup chopped sundried tomatoes
1-2 cups red wine ( such as a shiraz, or tempranillo etc )
1/4 cup+ harissa
1-2 cups chicken broth
1 large whole lemon
1-1/12 lb. potatoes, sliced approx. 1/2" thick
Jalapeños as you like
Pinch or two of cinnamon near the end of cook.

Served with wild rice cooked with pistachios.

Interesting looking and sounding dish.  I am sure I could eat that, but not my bride.  It might be a tad spicy for her right now.

It was not hot Art. The Jalapeños were the "mild" variety. The Mrs. T is kind of heat sensitive...

Hey! THAT proves "I" must be HOT!!!! She keep slushing me away! :D :D :D

Outstanding dish and I'll take few more jalapeños in mine, heck might as well put some habanero in mine.  :P
