GMG Davy Crockett - 1st cook - Meatloaf
« Reply #-1 on: December 28, 2013, 02:23:33 PM »

For my 1st smoke/cook on my new Green Mountain Grill Davy Crockett I chose to do a meatloaf to satisfy my comfort food craving  :)  Took my regular meatloaf recipe, smoked it at 180ºF using Hickory for 1 hours, bumped the temp to 350ºF till the IT reached 160ºF.  Rested the meatloaf for 20 minutes ...

VERY impressed with the temperature control and ease of use of this tailgate unit.  So impressed that I will be selling my PID modified Traeger PTG, stand, cover, and carrying case.  No need to keep 2 tailgate units ... The Davy Crockett will serve me well in the RV and at home for small meals and meals for the 2 of us  ;D

Awesome looking meatloaf! That Davy Crockett looks great! I may have look into getting
one of those instead of lugging around my Traeger junior with the collapsible legs. But got to
admit the TJ puts out some awesome chicken and ribs.

Great looking meatloaf! Wife and I are very interested in one of those GMG's and will be watching your posts. MAK is suppsed to be coming out with a portable in 2014 and want to see how it is set up, but guessing we may go the GMG route in the spring.
