Well... it started out as an experiment...
I had been asked to do a feature article on salt block cooking so I got a salt block and started to preheat it (slowly) according to the instructions...
It didn't quite come out the way it was supposed to!

It also Morphed from pink to white, Hope your all right and all is well. Good to know this could happen.

Wow! Trapped moisture? I hope no one was hurt and no damage beyond the salt block. Good thing you were doing it on the grill vs oven or stove! I haven't had a problem with mine, but will watch more carefully in the future.
Thanks,
David

Like shattered glass..........did the temps come up to quick to cause this?
-
Mike - was that on your Heatwave?
-
Yes, it was on the Heatwave.... I started very low and gradually increased over 45 minutes.... I guess the last increase was a touch too much <lol>!
-
Had you used it on the IR before? If not, I'd suspect the IR just bombards and builds in the material...we've all experienced that with sugar (why it burns so easily and quickly) and with some metal probes on some thermometers.
interesting! 8)

Is "Heatwave" Infrared heat ?
