Title: MaverickPro 100
Post by: LostArrow on December 08, 2012, 03:23:45 PM
Think I'm going to like this!
Cooked a couple 1&1/2 in thick steaks last nite & it reads in about 3 sec., easy to check in 2-3 places.
This am was cooking a butt & left on table & it sprinkled unexpectantly. The thermometer is SaleFor rain but not immersion.
Supposedly fairly drop proof, sure ill find out ;)
Biggest worry its the size of Lucy's chew bones ???
Look for sales , sparky & I got for $49 delivered!

I am looking closely at them. I think this may be added to my Christmas wish list.

I love my Thermapen(s) and use them all the time at work... but as noted before the lack of backlighting is an issue when cooking outdoors in the dark. I wish Thermapen would incorporate backlighting. It would make a very good product a great product.

Beware, a pro 100 advertised under $79 is either an old model, refurbished or sold by a non-authorized dealer.

Could you elaborate on your statement please.

No problem, Art.

Authorized Maverick Dealers are required to sign a Minimum Advertised Price agreement on two of their products, the ET-732 and the PRO-100 BBQ. Maverick makes two models of the PRO, one being the PRO-100, which is the older, not as fast and not as accurate model. The also sell the PRO-100 BBQ, which is the newer, faster and more accurate of the two.  This is the one in the comparison video that I did with the Thermapen.

Maverick requires a MAP of 89.99 (I stand corrected from my previous post) on the PRO-100 BBQ from their authorized dealers. They are very strict about this.  Can it be sold for less? Yes, but it cannot be publicly advertised at any thing below that price.

The PRO-100 does not have a MAP. So, the PRO-100's you're seeing on Amazon are either the old model,  a refurbished unit, or they will not have an honorable warranty. Just a heads up.

I always wondered why sometimes you can only see the low price only after the item is placed into the online shopping cart. I thought it was some type of sales ploy. Now I know the real reason ;)

Is this what Best Buy does? Sometimes I'll be looking for something and it will say to place in shopping cart to see the price ???
