Post by: Lantern on March 08, 2018, 12:31:33 PM
Hello! My name is Chris and I've been cooking and smoking since I was a kid sooooooo......yeah about 32 years? Ughhhh....I shouyuld have left that out! I have no good reason why I have not been a member here yet. But I DO plan to contribute to make up for it. Whether that's worth anything is totally not up to me. LOL!!!

Hey Chris - WELCOME!

Where..."near Asheville" are you? I am in Brevard. Some of us get together on occasion and have lunch at any BBQ joint that seems to be worthwhile in the area.

LOL!!! I JUST saw your location on another post!

I'm from Old Fort, but nobody knows where that is so we all get used to saying "near Asheville". LOL!! I use the range at Bear Arms from time to time. And my wife and I are NEVER against going out and eating!!

From Charlotte to Brevard there are some good choices. Bridges is good! If you like decent brisket JD's Smokehouse in Rutherford College is about as good as you can get in a restaurant around here IMO.....but I'm not the biggest fan of their other meats. Out towards you is the Wood Room and Hubba Hubba. I am a pretty big fan of the honey monk, but Lexington is a pretty decent haul.

Welcome from Dothan in South Alabama, we have some pretty good BBQ especially at my house, and I am just a few miles from Hunt's Oyster Bar, best oysters you will ever have and my wife is totally addicted to their chili dogs.

And...your avatar is not lost on me: Carl Reiner - in "The Jerk"...scene is when he removes his glasses which had the invention on them by Steve Martin's character, called an "Optional-Grab". Caused crossed eyes and he was sued into bankruptcy :D :D :D

Welcome from Morganton.  We'll have to put together a list of all those forum members who are "in the area", so to speak.  Four to five members try to meet for lunch about quarterly.  We have eaten at JD's quite often.

Glad you could join us.

it's nice to be in a BBQ group where I'm fairly certain there are quite a few members that know what an "all the way" hamburger or hot dog has on it. LOL!
