Title: Rainy Weekend
Post by: squirtthecat on May 27, 2013, 10:26:30 AM

Had an order of ribs to fill on Saturday, so we were up and at it early in the cold rain..

Ribs went on around 10.   Got busy doing up some beans and rendering 21 (!) pounds of bacon.

A little after 4, we unwrap them after 45 minutes and hit them with our glaze.

Started out with 1 rack spoken for, then 4, then a buddy came by to buy one for dinner, so Hal and I split the last one between us.   ;D

Sunday rolls around...    We have to heat up 50 pounds of pulled pork and 3 gallons of Red Beans & Rice for a graduation party.

Again?   Really?   (lightning struck just across the road from us after I took this picture)

Neither rain nor hail nor lightning strikes stays these smokers from the swift completion of their appointed loads!

Fortunately the skies cleared around 2PM, just in time for the party.

More rain last night, and storms on the way this afternoon.    I've got a crockpot full of Louie's Italian Beef going.   ;)

We're heading out of town for a long vacation tomorrow, so there won't be any BBQing for a couple weeks.

Ciao!   8)

That's the base for our Baked Beans and Red Beans & Rice.   I think we have enough out of that to make 28 gallons of baked beans or 35 gallons of RB&R.   Or a combination of the two most likely.

We have a couple Wentzel canopies that will work.    I've thrown away my share of twisted and mangled EZ-Ups.   ;)
