Title: Thermoworks Introduced a New Tool!
Post by: Dakota Don on August 16, 2013, 04:53:26 PM
Hey, gang I'm sure many of you are aware of this, but I want to share it just to be sure. This was in my monthly newsletter from them. I am particularly interested in the needle probe... I can definitely see a use for that. And that 100db alarm (yes, it's adjustable). Check it out at this link, I've added it to my letter to Santa.  ;D

Looks promising, Don.  I like the alarm volume feature, especially for when we have lots of guests and the ambient noise is more than the typical alarm will be able to deal with.

I'm a big fan of ThermoWork products even though they're not made in the U.S. I have a couple of Thermapens for work and at home. I like them so much I bought a bunch of them for my line cooks. They are pricy but worth every penny.

The ChefAlarm seems promising... I like the features but hope the probe is better than most remote-read thermometers (I have several Polder types and the probes seem to go bad too often).

I also like the BlueTherm Duo that is Wifi capable... It might become a replacement to my Maverick and iGrill.

I'm also a fan of their products but I don't like the pin type connections. I prefer the K type thermocouples.

The Wifi sounds like a neat feature, does that mean I can access and monitor the cooking temp while I'm at the grocery store grabbing the stuff I forgot I need for the current cook  ???  (assuming I have my Galaxy Tablet or smartphone with me)
I went to there website, all $$ are listed in Euros, do they have a U.S. importer/distributor of their products?

Hey BigDon, did you ever get a ChefAlarm? I just ordered one. From all I've read, it is accurate within a degree, unlike lots of other probes that I've been considering.

p.s. We were in Cedar Rapids a few months ago visiting Coe College. It was below zero and ice was falling from the sky! My son decided to attend, and just started this fall, so we'll be visiting Iowa from time to time...

I bought a TAPPEQUE at the American Royal this year and really like it.  I need to figure out how to get a good alarm for it on my Iphone for all night cooks.  At Thanksgiving I had a probe in the oven, one in the breast and one in the thigh....I double checked with a ChefAlarm in the other breast..wife says I am  thermometer obsessed...she went deer hunting with me this year and said she could not believe I did not have a thermometer in the blind...so I got one
