Title: Charcoal Baskets
Post by: LostArrow on November 01, 2013, 03:31:59 PM
I use a charcoal basket or fence in most of my cookers.
For backyard offset cookers a basket will extend the time between fueling significantly.
I have two baskets , a small one holding 4-5 lbs fuel for shorter cooks or when I'm going to be able to fuel & a large basket with a maze that will hold 12 -14 lbs fuel & burn 8 hours without tending( a good nItes sleep!
For grilling it allows a concentrated smaller fire to allow small cooks on a big cooker without wasting a lot of charcoal.
I've modified grilling baskets & made some out of expanded metal.
The smallest is used in my cb-500 table grill & holds about 1 to 1 & 1/2 lbs to the biggest which holds 12-14 lbs.

I thought you were using both baskets at once.  That was my confusion.
