I think that the mesh lid is kinda of a thing that you use with the methods you are used to. When I cook with the metal lid down on high, you have to watch the meat or it can burn on the outside. Obviously, if you get used to the time of cook, you can prevent that. I use the mesh lid because I can cook on high the whole cook time and not burn the meat. I also can see the meat while cooking so do not have to remove the metal cover. Just a personal thing, which we all can have when cooking. The problem now is where to buy them if you want one.
