Great price to get into pellet grilling. Lots of happy Traeger owners out there.

Do a little research on Traeger before you buy.  Lot of issues with controls not working

I have had my Traeger going on 5 years now and love it. Their controller takes off at times and does some wild temp swings but I learned how to cope and use a Maverick to keep it at grill level temps. After using a while I learned to ease the temps up to a higher setting by doing it at 25 deg. incraments and that helped on not getting the high overshoots.

Last winter I upgraded to a Savannah Stoker V3 controller and can now keep my temps under better control. For anything better you are looking at another $500 at the least. I think the Traeger is still a great cooker at a cheaper entry level price. Don

Green Mountain can't get out of their way. They have re-designed the heat deflectors that sit on the sides of the fire box. Only Mfg that feels the needs to have these. They are constantly updating their controller  (continuous improvement or.........). Many owners having problems with ash on their food. I understand the Wi-fi is less than stellar in certain conditions.

Traeger,Camp Chef,Char-griller and Green Mountain are in the 500 buck range. Buyer beware in this price range.

Make sure you use a reliable dependable dealer that will help you make things right if you purchase a GMG,

Camp Chef is strictly sold through Camp Chef or big outfits. You will have to deal with CC yourself.

If you buy through a big box store on the Traeger you will also deal directly with Traeger. Find a local Traeger dealer and see if they will match the offer.

I have tested both GMG patio offerings and did extensive pellet testing on them for Simi Pellet Grills. I personally would look elsewhere.

One thing to keep in consideration is that Traeger and Green Mountain are probably the two biggest sellers in the pellet grill world. With that amount of units out being used there will be more defective units that you will hear about on the forums. However, they both do sell well so there are way more happy customers then unhappy.

The Rec Tec 680 is the same size as the Texas Traeger. Ray told me a couple of years ago that they set out to make a better Traeger. Even though the 680 is a large grill it is very pellet efficient and it never hurts to have the extra real estate.............

Well if I can add my two cents.  I love my Rec Tec and would have a hard time getting rid of it. Now the mini is a little smaller yet from what I have read the build quality is as good as the 680 model.

Matter of fact I'm trying to save $$$$ now to get a mini for camping
