Keeping track of all the toys
« Reply #-1 on: October 24, 2012, 09:08:39 AM »
I'm sure you all have a lot of different remote-reading thermometers, Mavericks, Polders, iGrill, etc. How do you keep track of which probe goes with which unit? They all look pretty much the same (especially the Polder-type thermometers). I have three Polder single-probe units, a Polder transmitter, a Maverick ET 372 and an iGrill (among some others that are lost in the garage).

Here's what I do... borrow some nail polish from your significant other and put a dab of polish on the unit and another on the plug end of the probe. Either use different colors for different units or different marks (one, two or three dabs) to keep track of which probe belongs to which unit.

Another trick I use is to store stuff in small fish buckets (you can get them from your fish monger for a low cost or free). Keep all the parts and accessories together in one tub... perfect for BBQ Gurus, Stokers, etc.

Anyone else have other ideas on how to keep track of all the toys?
