Malabar Farm Inn Restaurant
« Reply #-1 on: May 11, 2016, 05:07:58 PM »
My wife and I took my mom out for a special lunch at the  Malabar Farm Restaurant.   This fine dining restaurant is the old Inn located at the historic Malabar Farm, near Perry'sville, Ohio.  We try to eat there a couple times per year for special occasions. Everything there is hand made from top notch, mostly local, ingredients.

Their lunch menu (which changes almost daily) usually offers a couple sandwiches options, as well as entrees.  Mom started with a nice salad, and my wife (who loves crab) ordered the crab cakes for us - nothing but real crab, no fillers -  lightly seasoned with a panko breading, served on a bed of this amazingly lacy delicate slaw, and some of the best tarter sauce that it has ever been my pleasure to taste.

The real treat came when when we got our entrees.  My mom decided she wanted their burger (prime grade local beef) and fries.  She said it was probably the best burger she'd ever eaten.  She could not eat it all.

My wife ordered the Coho Salmon salad. It was a generous portion served atop a bed of mixed greens, fennel, julienned carrots, apples & beets with a Red Sherry vinaigrette.

I ordered their Pasta Marinara:  The menu describe it like this: Hand made fettuccine, fresh marinara sauce, pine nuts, green onions, Parmesan (which I did not get), served with a fried egg on top.

Expecting a regular fried egg, this is what I got...  it was a soft boiled, then breaded and fried egg.  Are you kidding me? Fabulous!

And then I sliced the egg open...

I asked my wife and mom if they could please go sit at another table so the two of us (my lunch and I) could be alone!  :P

This restaurant is very close to where we will be holding the Ohio Gathering.

Thanks for looking!

You got yourself quite a meal.  If it tastes only half as good as it looks, it would still be worth it.
