I'm not feeling that one at all for the OS. Weber grates, Yes, Weber charcoal baskets, Yes, Jack's raise the charcoal level up with bricks method, Yes.
The one and only thing I might try is a heat deflector to use the entire grill surface as indirect. It's a fun, very forgiving little cooker right out of the box.

A 20 in pizza pan mounted 2 in below the grate would function as a heat shield.
