Thermapen question

No, it not which color is the fastest (although RED is known as the fastest)

My Thermapen has started to flash when I pull the probe out.     Like this, pull the probe and the temp reads but blinks off~then on~off~on~off.  Now if I close the probe and open it back up it may work just fine.  It does not matter where the probe is when it happens. I will do it anywhere the probe is open to

  I replaced the batteries, did a hard re-set yet it still does it.  The factory wants me to send it back but for a charge "if" they find an issue    For the price this thing ought to be under warranty I have only had it 2 years 

Anyone had this problem?

Yep. Contact Thermapen. They will ask you to send it in. Do it. I had a similar issue, and they sent me a new one. I was way out of warranty, and they knew that. They stand by their product.

I think the problem is not a "real" problem it's just the RED  one is sooooo fast it just looks like it cuts out     

   I would like it fixed though.   I'll send it in once I get the cought up with the church cook.   

Any idea what turn around time is???

Tommy,  Since you have a Red one, as I do, the turn around will be the quickest they can do.  If it were any other color it would be less than a year...or two.  Dee

Dee that is because the technology in the red one is less advanced. They have a special technician to deal with the green ones because of it's high powered processor and memory. The red one along with the other colors are simply banged against a desk three times to correct a majority of issues.

They a have newer model coming out next month. It is supposed to be the fastest reading thermometer yet. Of course the price will quite expensise due to the metal used to make the probe and body.

It will be made of.........unobtanium...............

I had one that was not only out of warranty, I had originally bought it as a refurbished unit. I sent it in for repair and received a free new one. I think it was like a week and a half but my memory fades.
If it takes too long and you need it for something, I have second one that you can borrow. (It is not the slow red one, it is the second fasted orange one. I will keep my fastest green one.)

Interested to hear how it turns out.  I have never had to have mine serviced, but I have no doubt they will do it quickly.

I think the Red ones are made special for them by the Ron Popeil company.
