Rick..I was a tester for charbroil on this grill after the gathering last year. It does get very hot and is just like a tabletop SRG.  I cooked all kind of things for CharBroil to test this machine. It was already put together when I got it and all I had to do was turn it on and season it. I filled it with wangs for Christmas cook. Had to use my G2G also. This machine out cooked the G2G and I really like that one too. CB Martin and Jetstailgate also tested this machine too.  Enjoy.  Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ
