Backyard Bird Watching & Photography - Turtle style
« Reply #-1 on: October 07, 2013, 02:07:44 AM »
… with apologies to Smokin' Don (whose birds here are much prettier but less tasty than mine).

Christened the PBC today with a 16 pound turkey.  Kingsford Original charcoal & Pit Barrel Cooker All-Purpose Pit Rub (first time out, do what the man tells you to do).

Followed the instructions (a strange experience - that doesn't happen often) and it all worked out as advertised (even though one of the hooks was set too close to the edge).

Unfortunately the photo of the carved bird didn't turn out and dee wasn't here to fix it.  You'll have to take my word - it didn't suck.

When Turtle gives something a "it didn't suck" - that is the reptile equivelant of  - "Man! - that was good"... :D

I haven't seen one on Oahu but I'm told they have a distributor in Hilo. Who goes to Hilo?

... you could have been taking pics of some of your birds from Hawaii...
My photo skills are second only to dee's; what would have been the point?

... expecting a Pink flamingo ...
Looks like you started drinking early. Unless you're in Florida (or maybe a zoo) I think that's the only way you'll see a pink flamingo in the US.  At least that's the way it's always worked for me.

That looks great. I haven't cooked a turkey in my PBC yet, but I might give this a try very soon.
