I have an iGrill but the range is very limited. I don't know if the iGrillmini is any better but I'm looking forward to trying it.

I've had one for almost a year & 1/2.
The first died at 2 weeks , they sent me another within 2 days & the second has worked well.
Range is variable 200 ft in open but importantly will reach from my deck thru the brick walls to every room in the house.
The batteries slowly drain turned off so for extended storage remove batteries.

I also have had one for 1 1/2 years. Not getting the range they state it should get but still happy with it. Would be nice if it was wi-fi.
And yes it is a battery eater for sure. The other problem I found you have to make it forget your last device you used it on. Say one day I have it connected to my I-Phone and the next time I want it connected to my I-pad it will not find my I-pad till I delete the last connection. Took me a while to figure that one out. All in all it works OK. I would give it a 6 out 10 if asked.

That is a great buy. I am interested in how well it works for you. Give us a report down the road.

Thanks,

Ed

I've been using the original iGrill with great success. As this device does, in fact, eat batteries, I've had great success with the following batteries and charger; available through amazon.
eneloop XX 2500mAh 4-packhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058GZWXQ/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
La Crosse Technology BC-700 Battery Chargerhttp://www.amazon.com/La-Crosse-Technology-Battery-Charger/dp/B000RSOV50/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1388065350&sr=8-3&keywords=battery+charger

Back to the iGrill device, it is now my primary temp monitoring device on any long cooks.  I store my device in the original package WITHOUT batteries. Before each use, I give those eneloop batteries a full charge and I've yet to loose power during a cook. Mind you, I've also swapped batteries during a cook too. The software is setup on both my iPhone and iPad, but the iPad is my "go to" device for monitoring my long cooks.
