Title: Steak Shake

  I took care of my mom at the end of her life and recently dealt with my brother passing as well.  My mom would always say "I wish I could just taste a steak". She couldn't chew meat like steak because her gums shrunk so much. We fixed her steak pieces and just let her get the juice from them. This was a BIG deal for her. 
 My brother could eat but could not digest solids well and he loved steak and ribs.
My son made him some fall off the bone ribs with great care and its probably the last meat he ever got to eat. You could see the joy in his face when he ate them which was just an awesome thing. We discussed the steak shake idea and he thought it had some merit. We just never got the opportunity to give it a go.
 Now a friend at work has cancer in his tonsil and was saying yesterday how much he would like a steak.
That brought up the subject for me again.. Many moons ago I cooked a steak a little to much which made it quite tough.  Refusing to throw it out I put it in the food processor then made a sandwich with it. Not bad, Not great.. But Ok.
 What I think I'm may try doing is making a steak shake recipe that has great steak flavor so when someone or myself gets in a situation like this we can enjoy the taste at least.
 I realize this is not mainstream food and wont be. But for those who can't chew well enough to swallow a steak maybe it will give them the great taste of steak!
Getting the seasoning right will be the hurtle. If anyone has any thoughts please share.
I don't really expect to use a straw but a spoon would be great.

Have you thought of cooking to the pulling stage, should work for steak, like chicken or pork, then season as usual, just my opinion.  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Now that I have my Sous Vide on order I've a little obsessed, so naturally when I read your post it got me thinking.

What if you cook a steak, sous vide method, to it's most tender point.  From what I've gathered, then it would not have any char or hard cook exterior as you would a traditionally cooked steak.  You could even use a cut a meat such as chuck, that would break down a little more, as season as you would a steak.  inject the chuck with some broth before cooking to add in some juices and flavor. 

Who knows???

Could you blend it with mashed potatoes to make a steak & potato dinner?? It would go down smooth I would think

I think I could come up with something that would work...I will give it a try the next time I am cooking some steaks. I have a need for something like a steak spread so I will work in that direction.

When my first wife was getting to the point it was hard to eat she would crave steak so I would cook one mid rare like she liked and give her little chunks to chew. She could get the taste of the char and the juice of the meat and spit it out because she could not swallow. Never thought about a meat shake. Looking forward to what you come up with.

Terry, this is what I came up with for a steak meal for a fellow that has some trouble chewing and swallowing most foods.

I started with a 13 oz ribeye and added a very simple rub of salt, garlic, and pepper. I let the steak warm up for about 30 minutes and then placed it on a very hot grill (Davy Crockett) pellet cooker.

I cooked the steak for about 8 minutes total to about a medium rare doneness.

Jan chopped up the steak and placed it into the food processor along with 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and ground it up for a few seconds. It came out very tasty and super easy to eat. It just melted in your mouth.

Served the steak with some smashed potatoes and gravy, some well processed cole slaw, and a piece of garlic bread.

The meal worked well and sure satisfied my guest.

 Dave, I think that's the ticket.  I was thinking about something like Worcestershire or beef base to enhance the flavor.  My friend Corky is having the inside of his throat radiated and between that and the chemo has lost most of his taste. I'm going to share this with him and see what he thinks.
 He eats some(what he can)and has a feeding tube to keep his calories high enough.
