Title: I Bought A Sailboat
Post by: nepas on May 03, 2016, 05:23:10 PM
An RC Sailboat  :D :D :D

There are 6 guys here that race in the lake so instead of paying $600 for him to build me one, i bought a pre assembled DragonForce 65.

Getting ready to assemble the keel and masts.

I thought he was talking about a full size one. I keep wanting another boat but my wife says a boat is just a hole in the water you throw money in.

Pam what do you use to cook with on the boat? the portable CB grill or do you have one of those special boat grills?

I have one of the round ones that I would fire up on Block island on my boat. Man when the wind blew that thing was like a blow torch. Best steaks ever LOL.....Talk about a crust.....man those were the days LOL  Just salad, BP's & Steak......with a couple of Adult drinks.......Yes I was tied up......no not me the boat.

My wife has been wanting a boat for ages. I had one that was given to me by my dad. It was a real POS and needed a lot of work. My brother took it and was going to fix it up and then saw that it was a money pit and he sold it. After he took what he put into it out of the sale, my cut was like $60.00. Pops was FURIOUS!!! lol

So....no boat for me. I like the RC option though ;)

My wife now has a Kayak so that will be HER boat.

Painted the keel and rudder orange. Got the keel tight and rudder hooked to rudder servo. Mast has been glued up and drying, tomorrow the mast, jib and sail assembly.

I got 2 sizes of keels. The one on is for shallow water.

Why the pool you ask?

Because if there is a problem i can just go in and get it, in the lake i have to fend with the critters  ???

And in Florida they have some seriously scary (and BIG) "critters".....

(http://a.espncdn.com/media/motion/2015/0311/dm_150311_golf_alligator_sighting_may_be_good_for_golf_course/dm_150311_golf_alligator_sighting_may_be_good_for_golf_course.jpg)

Nice looking sailboat.  There are days I sometimes wish mine was that size.  Everything on a boat costs money (as in "B-ust O-ut A-nother T-housand").  Hell, right now my trailer needs about $800 just in tires.  Couple of hundred bucks just to fuel it, etc... it never ends.

Yup

Just like RV's, something always breaks. Brand new 5th wheel and the awning motor went out last week. Under warranty still and have a 10 extended. Have a hitch guy going to be out next week to give me a price on a rear 2" receiver, gotta be bolted and welded to the rear frame. Soon we have to think about a truck, Looked at a RAM 3500 plain jane for 42k. The 3500s can pull 30k.

On the gator pic, that a huge one. I took the grandkids to white city park where they seen gators in the wild. There are gators in every county in FL.
