Title: Application for Mak Grills
Post by: Pappymn on November 01, 2012, 11:18:56 AM
Mak Daddy said it was fine to share this screen shot from another forum. Many of you have more then likely seen this already, but for those who haven't....... This should be awesome when it is finished. No firm ETA on that according to Mak Daddy.

PC app, butI think they are working on iPhone and Android as well.
The smoker will have a WiFi chip in it, so it can all be controlled remotely.

They have a Bluetooth remote for them now that work pretty well, but nothing sophisticated as pictured above.

Wonder if this App will work on a PC/Laptop, IPad, phones, etc??  If so, will it be free?  Will this replace my Remote Boss for the MAK for which I paid $$?  Will it allow me to do everything the Remote Boss can do?  Curious minds want to know!!!  :) ;)

I love technology and its applications as much as anyone but there's just something innately wrong with something that lets me call, text, or email my neighbor from anywhere in the world, have him throw a frozen butt or boulder on my pit, and lets me cook it remotely without ever seeing or touching it.

Is is convenient and does it add to my flexibility?  Undoubtedly.

Is it BBQ?  I'm not so sure.

According to Bob (MAK Daddy) It will work with any device that has a web browser and let's you control all the normal pellet boss features.

Pappymn:

Where would this panel display, on your computer linked by what?  Also, the screen shot shows a 4 star general?

Phone app would be very cool.  I would modify my current mak for that.

MAK users will be able to purchase a WiFi module (when available) that plugs into the controller. The WiFi module then connects to your home wireless router and lets you control the grill via a Internet Web Browser.

OK, that makes sense.  So if I understand you correctly, the WiFi module (when available) that plugs into the controller will give people an option of using the existing Remote Boss Controller or the new App (at a $price).  Cool ... as always MAK strives to be the leader in cutting edge technology!!

Unfortunately when I click on your links all I get is the following:

Here's the way I understand it based on MAK DADDY's post on the PelletSmoking forum:  The Pellet Boss controller has a single receptacle that accepts either a Bluetooth Module (for the Remote Boss) OR a Wifi Module.

- The remote boss works with the BlueTooth module ONLY (as far as I know).

- The WiFi module uses your Wireless Router and an existing Web Browser on your PC, IPAd, Phone, etc. (there is no app to buy).

P.S.  Hopefully Bob (MAK DADDY) will be joining us here at LTBBQ. He is the guy with the answers!

Sounds like I no longer need to purchase a remote PelletBoss to control my MAK2, do you think?
