He posted . I told him this was the place to go. Here is what he said.
I don't know if anyone here has experience with using a Salt Plate on the grill. I just bought one and did a review on it, I thought the folks following this thread might be interested.
I bought a Charcoal Companion: Himalayan Salt Plate and Holder from Amazon.com during Prime Day after having dinner at a buddy's and being blown away by the results. My personal experience was less than stellar, my buddy must have spent hours preheating the salt block to get it hot enough to cook on.
Bottom Line: The Salt Plate adds awesome flavor, takes forever and a day to get hot enough to cook on, and is fairly easy to clean. I don't know how often I will use it for the length of time it takes for it to preheat.
Thanks in advance Richard I hope he joins us.
There is a link to his backyard theater site but I don't know it is ok to provide a link to it as he does get paid if you buy from his links to Amazon etc. If I get the OK I will pass on the link so others on here can learn from what he had to say.

Tell him you gotta pre-heat them in the oven first for best results. And always let the salt block come up to temp with the oven. In other words place it in the oven before turning it on.
Then move the block to your already heated grill...
Hope he joins our group

@muebe thanks for the tip. I am the friend he is referring to, I have been able to get the salt plate up to higher temps now, but I am trying to find that sweet spot where it provides just the right amount of salt. 400-450 seems too salty 500+ doesn't seem to impart any salt at all. I think I will try to get it to 475 if I can catch it at the right time.

My daughter gave me one a while back and I had not used it yet. Did not want to burn half a tank of propane heating it up.... DUH!!!!! Guess I need to use it now.

I have been searching here for info on the Salt Plates and my new GMG Daniel Boone Pellet Grill. I bought a Salt Plate at Trader Joe's last year and have been wanting to try it. Now, with the new grill, here we go.
When I do, I'll sure post my results. We are total Himalyan Salt freaks. Only use the fine ground salt on the table, in all cooking, and have about 20 Salt Lamps around the house. Wonderful stuff, it is.

BTW, love this site and so happy I found you all!
