Title: 1st mod done! Now just need a good day to cook

Well I had a doctor app today but he canceled it without me knowing so my day was freed up to do something else  ;)

I read quit a few threads where folks were burning their fingers trying to open/close this vent


I caught my brother in-law home and asked him if he had any 5/16 th threaded rod and he did.  So I ask if he would mind drilling a hole for me since I still can't work with my left hand yet and he said he would help.     

He drilled a hole for me after the tab on the vent was bent so the rod would go through it.


I added the rod tighten and added a piece of pecan wood I had cut years ago from the tornado damage we had (I never get rid of pecan wood) :D :D :D :D

Works well, easy mod and now waiting for a good day to try it out ;)

Well it's not sn original idea but it gets the job done  :D.   Just wish the weather would break so I can grill some dogs on it
