Post by: sliding_billy on October 03, 2020, 01:22:34 PM
Had Calvin (my younger son) assisting on this cook since Adrian was knee deep in mechanical engineering assignments. I thing we did pretty good. I know he did.  :P

Luckily, it isn't as rough to try different things in Texas where the price of brisket is bearable.  I have no idea how many briskets I have done at this point.

I'm not concerned as much about the cost, but want to avoid failure. :)

Tommy, in Texas brisket is usually cheaper than ground hamburger meat. I always check the price of both. If brisket is cheaper, I buy it and grind it into hamburger. Probably not doing myself any favors because it takes a lot of effort to grind. package, and then clean up... but it does taste better than regular hamburger meat.

I found some select briskets at Walmart last week for $1.89/ pound and choice briskets for $2.09/ pound. Prime briskets at HEB were $2.49/ pound. All prices were sale prices.

I do love tripping over briskets for sale at HEB, I now have to drive 40 minutes to get one

That is one great looking brisket, but heck, you aint never done a bad one (at least not what you post here)
