Title: Stovetop Chops and Haluski
Post by: Smokin Don on May 28, 2013, 01:52:00 AM
Memorial day

Looking around the site we have a place for about any kind of cooker but the stovetop! Not sure if this is the right place to post or not!

It was unusual for me to not to have a cookout for the holiday. For us it was a play it by ear week end. Our daughter was home from Chicago and our son was working a couple of the days at his extra part time job. Saturday evening everyone went out to a Thai place and brought home some for me, I stayed home with the two dogs. Sunday evening I fixed lasagna.

Today for breakfast lunch all went out to Bob Evens; I stayed home and had some of the Thai leftovers. After lunch the son & wife went home. Grandma, our grandson and daughter played scrabble. About 3:00 our daughter headed back to Chicago and dropped the grandson off at home. My wife and I sat out and enjoyed the peace and quiet for a while.

I had some marinated boneless pork chops from my butcher thawed out. They were marinated with sun dried tomatoes, garlic and spices. I had some cabbage and some German style spaetzel noodles so would fix haluski to go with the chops and some garlic bread.

I sautéed some onions in a little bacon grease and olive oil then added some chopped cabbage and covered. I browned the chops in a little olive oil for 3 minutes on a side then down to low and covered for 10 minutes and added a little water after 5 minutes. The cabbage was getting cooked down so removed the lid added the cooked noodles and browned some while the chops were cooking. I toasted the garlic bread in a skillet.

I served it with a little of the pan juices over the chops and the haluski on the side with garlic bread. A mighty tasty meal!
