Title: Hello from Florida
Post by: Harbah Master on November 24, 2013, 10:35:02 AM
Hello everyone new guy here, found the site while researching The Big Easy SRG.

I've been BBQing for about 13 years since moving to the USA from the UK
I have a Char Broil twin grill with a Texas style side mounted smoke box.
Gas for grilling in the week, charcoal for smoking on the weekend.

I originally looked into the TBE as a  cleaner and less hassle way of frying Turkeys. The expense of the oil coupled with the hassle of disposal has become too much trouble.

When I found this site I was steered toward the SRG it seems a great piece of kit and much more suitable for campsite cooking too.
I'll be doing my first bird this Thanksgiving on our annual camping trip and may attempt a pork butt after that.

Been reading lots of threads and it seems TMB is the Lord of the TBE great information and mods. I already ordered a pan for the Tommy Ring.

Great site you have here and a very friendly community

Welcome from mid Alabama. I am on my second original TBE (The Big Easy) cooker and still love it. I have cooked turkeys, tuekey breasks, chickens, cornish game hens, Boston butts, chicken wings, baked potatoes and the best Prime Rib I have ever had in mine.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I'm  certainly looking forward to getting to grips with the SRG and putting it through its paces.

If I were to say I had a specialty it would be ribs - been cooking and tweaking them for years entered one or two small competitions and have either won or placed in them all.

Welcome from Southern California.

I have two Big Easy's myself. One that runs on Natural Gas at home(no need for a tank) and another that is still for propane that I use when camping.

They are a very versatile high temp cooker. Make a great Turkey, Chicken, Ribs, and so much more!

And your right TMB is the mad scientist around here when it comes to the Big Easy!

Great to have you! I look forward to seeing your posts. We are a collective of folks from mostly the USA - but we have a growing contingent of international influence, with members that either live or work in other countries - and folks like yourself that are from somewhere else- but now reside here. The common adhesive is the love of al things cooked outdoors ( mostly ;) )

Our strength is the variety of perspectives, expressed in a friendly manner with respect.

Looking forward to your input!
