Cedar planked bbq nachos
« Reply #-1 on: August 01, 2014, 10:39:34 PM »
Our Foodland grocery store flyer had this recipe in it, so I had to try it. Put 2 kinds of nachos and green onions,
artichoke hearts, jalapenos, black olives, asst peppers and tex mex cheese on a soaked cedar plank.

On to the gas grill on med heat

One for me and one for the wife

They came out smokey and crispy. Used my homemade salsa.

All gone.......Time for beer

That sounds interesting...How did you like the results? I have never thought of a cedar plank to smoke nachos. Really original!

Tee....I really liked them. A nice smokey flavor because of the grill having some drippings from a previous cook. Will make these again for sure.

What an interesting idea. Did the cedar add flavor?

Yes the cedar added flavor because it was too thin and caught fire a few times. It dried out too fast. I have got to get a 1x6 or 8 board and cut it into serving sizes. I ended up moving the board to indirect heat near the end to make sure all the cheese melted. It was like the cedar plank salmon taste. It was there but in the background.

That sounds fantastic. Might be interesting to try some different woods as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
