West Memphis steak cook-off
« Reply #-1 on: October 16, 2014, 07:52:29 PM »
This Saturday (10/18 ) if anyone will be in the Memphis area, come by the Dog track, say howdy and get yall some steak! Last I heard, we will have 85  teams cooking in the competition ???. Teams from across the good ol USA will meet up and do the deal at Southland race track. This one has only been going for about 5 years, but, it is growing really fast. Yall stop by and say howdy. I wont be hard to find, just look for the smallest grill in the competition and the sign that says "Walker Tree Farm Cooking Team."   ;)

Well, we came in 19th out of 84 teams in West Memphis :). As always, we had a BLAST doing it. I think this will be our last one for this year. As for 2015, our first steak competition will be in Nashville, Tn. I think it's the first weekend in March. Then on to Camden, Ar the next weekend.... I think. Anyway, I have time to fgure it out and post the correct dates and locations. Untill ten, practice, practice, practice  ;D

I highly recommend joining the SCA - and attending ( or even better - become a judge and help put on a contest!) a Steak Cook-Off. It is faster paced than BBQ - requires much less time and money to participate - and just a heck of a lot of fun!

Congrats on a good finish Palmy!
