15 Bean Soup on my new "Toy"
« Reply #-1 on: January 23, 2015, 09:00:04 PM »
It was a cold and rainy day here in Georgia and I wanted some beans.  I had a package of 15 bean soup so I
rinsed the beans, put in 9 cups of chicken broth, 1 onion, 2 tsp of minced garlic and the seasoning packet and
a pound of leftover pulled pork then put them in my new toy.  I ordered this the other day from HSN when they
were on sale. It is the Elite Platinum 8 quart electric pressure cooker with 13 presets.  I set the cooker for soup
and manually set a time of 35 minutes.   It took about 15 minutes to come up to pressure before it started the
timer.

Here is my bowl!

I am amazed at how well the beans came out in the pressure cooker. This is the first time I have used one, but
it won’t be the last time.  It took just about an hour and fifteen minutes from start to finish.  If I would have
cooked them the way I normally do it would have taken several hours.   After I have used it several times I will
do a product review.

I have been researching the various types of pressure cookers, also.  I'll be following this one, too.

Great looking 15 bean soup, I love that stuff.  I also love my pressure cooker too, got two of them, one is a stovetop version and the other is a microwave version.  I can do my red beans and rice in about 90 minutes with a pressure cooker vs all day simmer in a slow cooker.  Great time saver when needed.

Do we have a section for Pressure cookers? Looks good to me Mike..WTG, nice cook. I have the best recipe for unstuffed cabbage rolls that only takes 25 minutes in the pressure cooker..I don't have the digital one, but I'm sure the timing is the same. Pam  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

I still do not have a pressure cooker. I figured it would be something that I buy and never use!

These cooks are changing my mind. And they look so easy to use now and so advanced I might need to pick one up soon!

Getting a pressure cooker is like getting a sous vide, once you get one you'll wonder why you waited so long.  ;)
