Finally after 5 weeks
« Reply #-1 on: August 16, 2012, 06:28:23 PM »
I finally got a chance to do something. So for those of you who don't think they come out good, I decided to BOIL then smoke some spare ribs.   :o  YEAH, RIGHT. Y'ALL KNOW ME BETTER THAN THAT ;D

I know some of ya cringe when someone talks about boiling ribs. I decided to go with the ole, kids will not complain and eat Zack's Hickory Rub and I did one rach with Zack's Sweet Rub. I also threw in a yard bird completely dusted in and out with the Zack's Hickory. First time to be able to use my new homemade rack.
I was so eager to get going that I forgot to spatchcock the DAM bird. Oh well, its all good. The bird is for tomorrow.

Rubs I used after a light coat of CYM

Ribs on the new rack while the bird is getting ready

The bird getting some dust

The bird went in to catch some smoke

The budda, honey and brown sugar treatment

Time for step 2

I was going to put the bird in the SRG but decided to crank up the temp and leave it in there.

Da ribs

Nothing fancy, just some fresh green beans with fresh garlic, bacon and onion.

Thanks for looking  :)

The Hickory Rub.  Neither of them are salty. Neither have MSG, a good thing for lots of folks.

Mike, looks great. Did you get those rubs somewhere in Houston? If I remember right, you got some rub from a BBQ joint somewhere around the med center a few months ago. Are these from there? Can't remember the name of the place, but I wanted to try it. You have peaked my interest.

I get these locally and by locally I mean about 36 miles from me in Pearland, Tx. Off 288 and FM 518.  At a HEB Plus. The other you're referring to was from Guy's Meat. I don't like it. It's way to salty.

Great smoker full of food Mike.

Even WAY up here in West KY I am a huge fan of both of those Rubs.  Their brisket Rub is killer too.
