Hope winter is over!

Mar 08 2015

It has not been a good winter here. Getting into February I was just getting healed up from a back operation and getting back to doing most of the cooking again. Then the wife and I both caught the cold – flu and that took us about 10 days to get over. She bounced back quicker than I did. I lost my appetite and nothing tasted good to me, not even beer! Sandman said I had to get back to normal or he might have to lay someone off!

I missed all my good friends and cooks in here, but if I couldn’t eat was not going to be looking at all the good food in here! Before I got sick I had bought a bag of lobster claws at Sam’s Club; that was the first thing I wanted when I started getting my appetite back.  I thawed the claws and steamed them, all that was needed for sides were a salad, some crusty bread and garlic butter to dip the lobster and bread in.

With over a dozen claws there that was some great eating for two!

Saturday the son had to work and the grandson had an indoor soccer game so the wife went with him & his Mom and then they went out to eat after. I fixed myself a big juicy cheeseburger and wanted to try some sauce Sandman gave me to try on it. I also fried some potato slices in duck fat. I was not that impressed with the duck fat but loved that BBQ sauce. Now all I have to do is get the recipe from Sandman; he said it was one of Steven Raichlens recipe.

It looks like spring weather coming this week so I should be able to get back out on my Traeger and do some more cooking with my new Savannah Stoker v.3 controller.
