Consolation (Rain) Tri-Tip
« Reply #-1 on: May 17, 2015, 12:05:59 PM »
I know it is in bad form to complain that you are getting too much rain in Texas, but this is getting ridiculous...  I saw a nice choice tri-tip in the reduced for quick sale bin at the grocery store Friday, and I figured maybe I would get a chance to cook it this weekend.  The rain wasn't cooperating, so I decided to cook it in the oven this morning for lunch.  A couple of minutes of high broil on each side to get some color, and roasting at 300 until done (pulling at 125).  Salt and pepper only for seasoning.

I feel dirty using a broiler rack for a tri-tip

Ready to roast

But hey you play the hand you're dealt. And you couldn't cook this nice hunk of meat outside. It came out pretty! Nice job!
I'll take a handful of those slices on some bread please!  ;D
